It really throws you back a good number of decades (centuries?) when the power goes out for an extended period of time, for an extended area. The main thing I noticed? News doesn't travel, or it travels very slowly. Or at least, what I've come to expect news to be, probably because I'm used to being able to access many different points of view, or research in depth the points that I'm interested in. When all you have is an AM radio, you can't do that. I kept wondering if the windstorm was making national headlines, mainly so I'd know that my online friends were likely to know why I was suddenly out of touch.

But then I realized, enh, they're not going to notice. <_<
