Worlds

I've been called a creative genius before, and if this is what genius is then let me tell you: it's overrated. I expect this section only to grow as my head spews forth more random drivel, and that's really the bane: I can't help it. Most of my creative juices ooze out in the form of musical works, though recently I've noticed that I have just as much an urge to create stories in general. And so here it is. No matter what else I end up doing, I'll always have some new idea, new plotline, or new melody going through my head that I should record somewhere, and barring any significant external interest in them, they'll probably end up here.

This section is entitled "Worlds" because that's how I think of the imaginative process, as exploring alternate ways to experience this world, or (more often) other worlds. I don't like one-shot poetry much, nor a classical-era symphony, and that's because these things lack context. But give them any degree of verisimilitude, and suddenly the works become much more real and believable. Sure, I could be operating within the context of our contemporary world, which is presumably the default. I find that boring. My ideas always seem to filter downwards, from the higher levels of abstraction, so it's only natural for me to apply them in fantastical settings where assumptions of reality can be redefined.

As I implied, I create using many media. Even within each world, you're likely to find plot summaries, outlines, and related music ... maybe even the occasional drawing or two. Here's what's available so far, and I may end up adding sections in the future:

  • The Four Worlds Campaign Series for Dungeons and Dragons: This is a collection of four large campaigns, each set in the same large game world, but at different eras in history. The campaigns are in varying stages of completion, from just started to finished.

  • Fate of Io: This role-playing creation has evolved and grown so much that it's its own project, and is housed on other site (guess where).

  • The World of Rhydin and the Stars End Spaceport: Not a world of my creation, but one in which I have existed in proxy for quite a while, through my inveterate online alias. Learn all about the character Dev here.

  • Gunstorm (a.k.a. Project: Video Game): Also not my creation, but that of Brian Clevinger. I was tasked with providing a musical dimension, which is here for your audition.
